INTERLABORATORY COLLABORATIVE STUDY ON LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT: FOOD AND PACKAGING SECTOR
Welcome to the first case study of the Interlaboratory collaborative study on life cycle assessment.
This first episode of the “Interlaboratory in LCA” series aims to assess and define the factors causing variability in LCA study results, starting with the most debated ones such as software, databases, environmental impact assessment methods used, allocation calculations, and energy mix modelling.
To analyse all these factors, the study has been structured into three tests related to the food and packaging sector.
![]() 1. PACKAGING PRODUCTION |
![]() 2. DEHYDRATION PROCESS |
![]() 3. PASTA PRODUCTION |
We are looking for LCA professionals from associations, companies, research centres, and universities who want to enhance their awareness of the elements influencing their practice and LCA study results.
By taking part in this statistical test, you will have the opportunity to compare your personal performance with that of international colleagues in the framework of the three case studies. The final statistical report you will receive will include the results of all participants and will be strictly anonymized using PIN codes.
If you are interested in participating in this statistical study, we have great news.
A Personal Qualification Certificate and access to the Register of Qualified LCA Practitioners (free registration for the whole year 2024) can be obtained by taking all three tests and receiving at least two positive assessments in the final statistical report. However, as the personal qualification must be nominative and not issued against a PIN, it requires the loss of anonymity. Practitioners interested in the qualification must therefore send us their personal details together with their PIN code.
